Newport. Walking on the rocks around the Ocean Drive or hiking at Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge is what I love to do when I have some quiet time.
I always say that there is no other town the size of Newport that I know of that offers what this town does. It's a manageable walking city that has the vibe of a much larger city and the warmth of a small town, yet has a cosmopolitan flair and natural beauty that attracts people from all over the world.
So many wonderful and diverse restaurants to choose from. What’s better than cocktails or a Snowball in Hell from The Clarke Cooke House or a piping hot bowl of clam chowder at the Black Pearl, Pizza or Pasta from Pasta Beach or Sunday’s light summer suppers and sunset at Castle Hill?
Christmas in Newport, The Newport Flower Show, The International Tennis Hall of Fame Tennis Tournament. Playing tennis at the Tennis Hall of Fame on manicured grass courts or being at a sandy beach, usually Gooseberry Beach, in less than 5 minutes are privileges that I never take for granted. The Music Festivals, Jazz, Folk and Classical Music Festivals, International Sailing Competitions, The Gilded Summer Cottages of Newport and the simple elegant Historic Colonial homes all contribute to making the City-by-the-Sea the perfect place that I call home.
Iris, a Native Newporter, has extensive knowledge of Newport’s real estate market, including Middletown, Portsmouth, Tiverton and Jamestown. Her experience covers everything from representing first-time home buyers to buying and selling single-family and multi-family homes, investment property, and commercial property. Having lived in several other states, she is sensitive to the challenges of being in a new area and she will use her experience to help you deal with the stress of relocation.
She began her real estate career in 1987 after selling “Au Natural,” the first health food store on Aquidneck Island. Iris was one of the founders and original members of the Downtown Business Association in Newport. That experience gives her the insight into business and the local business community needed to help you make the right real estate decisions.
Her son Adam and his lovely wife Tiana are successfully living and working in Ad Tech in Marina Del Rey, California; stepson Greg Zaff, founder of Squashbusters, an inner city squash program, lives in Cambridge; and stepdaughter Erika Hession and her family reside in Needham, Massachusetts.
Whether you are buying or selling, Iris’s in-depth local knowledge, business expertise, and sensitivity to the family issues involved in relocation give her the ability to help you navigate the real estate process comfortably and with confidence.
